meow

So I'm sure you are all dying to hear about the rest of the NY/Vermont trip. I'll get to it at some point, I'm sure. I just wanted to post a quick note to say it's a two-cat day! (What is she talking about?) As I was walking to work, two cats crossed in front of me. I said hello, and they stopped and turned around. So, being the polite person I am, I introduced myself by holding out my hand, and they both rubbed their heads up against my hand, looked at me, then we went our seperate ways. It was very very strange and I'm not quite sure what it means, but I figured I'd tell you anyways.

...it's a hell of a town

Good stuff, good stuff. My friend Dom suggested it was too early to go back, but actually, I've rather enjoyed it so far and just find myself missing London a bit.
- Saturday: flying. Jerrod's dad was visiting, so we hung out and Jerrod narc'd on me for the crap I pulled when I was 16. Thanks Jer.
- Sunday: Yanks cream the Sox, 11-1! Woohoo! Plus, I get the bestest burgers in the world: Paul's Place. mmm...paul's...
- Monday: work (which actually goes fairly well) and dress shopping with Melinda. Can't find it online, otherwise I'd link to it. Maybe Mel can.
- Today: more work (not going fairly well) and sushi. mmm...sushi... After work, I'm buying some perfume (prolly), getting my hair done (*warning* I'm seriously considering chopping it all off again), and finally starting packing.
I gotta pack 'cause tomorrow's Vermont and watching the Sue get her piece of paper. yay!

tech update

Have I mentioned that Adam's the best? Only 100 times? Well, make it 101. I have a working camera with the software installed on my laptop and all that skippee stuff. So, I will def. bring some flat photos and maybe a party pic or two to NY.

Also, for those of you dying to know (you are, aren't you?), I did make it to Tesco (um, think... gosh, I don't know, Associated? A&P? It's not that large but it's a big chain.) and topped up the mobile (really topped it up), so my cell phone is back on.

Other than that, had a good time last night a colleague's flat and got to see the baby and meet the husband and had some fun. Going out to meet more of Suz's friends tonight and having a big work drinks on Friday, so it'll be interesting to see exactly when I'll get around to packing. But I guess it's gots to gets done.

can I get some cheese with this whine?

I've been a bit blue for the last two days. I called my friend Vicky (thanks for getting the number, Dad) and talked to her last night. She gave me a good reading and some great advice. Lemme know if you're ever looking for a tarot card reader. Anyhoo, I slipped on the stairs this morning and couldn't get up for a couple of minutes and now it hurts to sit, but at least I'm not Jerrod trying to walk up and down into club 151 on crutches. I'm so sorry, dude. Virgin are being wankers (yes, I know what it means and I don't care) and won't let me top up my phone (put more minutes on) using my US credit card online, so I've got to go to a store before I can talk to anyone on my mobile, which actually isn't such a bad thing when you consider I managed to run through £50 in 14 days (yes, more calls from the office and to the house would be a good thing). Of course, the hour I spent on the phone to Kentucky last night probably wasn't the best idea.

On the pink side, I got my tickets from NY to Vermont and I'm looking forward to seeing everybody. If I figure out my camera in time (I know I know, Lee), I'll bring back some digital pics of the flat. It's going to be a busy trip but lots and lots of fun. Mom and Sue (not that you can read this where ever you are), I hope you're thinking about what you want to see while you're in London. Um, I don't know what else. Just thought I'd ramble for a while. After all, what the hell else is a blog for?

WOOHOO YIPPEE SKIPPEE flat news

Yes! I do have a place to live and I'm moving on Sunday! Busy day today, even though I know you want details, but in the meantime, here's where it is (bottom left, vertical row of about 13 houses):

Clever people can also go to http://www.streetmap.co.uk and search on N1 9BL as the postcode.

Yay! They beat Poland last night, and, yes, I did watch it at a pub with some friends. Fun fun fun. I even cheered in the right places!

Lee's visit

Hiya. Today I'm yawning and avoiding ordering folders, so I thought I'd do a quick highlights tour of last weekend when Lee was here. If he sends me pictures, maybe I can figure out how to link to them.

Saturday, we went to the Borough Market. Lots of cheeses and olives and meats and stuff that apparently you can't get in the states, like Iberico Ham. Lee was like a little kid in a candy store. (Well, you were.) :) Then we walked over to the Tate Modern. Good stuff! Didn't get to see the Hopper exhibit, but the main galleries were more than enough on their own. It's very odd because it's organized by theme, but I liked it anyways. I finally found a video installment I like (Sam Taylor's Still Life). Fabulous Magrittes (The Healer especially) and Picassos (though he's really more Lee's thing). I loved the light exhibit (Olafur Eliasson's Your Double Lighthouse Projection) and I discovered some one new (to me): Siqueiros (Cosmos y desastre - totally captivated me).

Sunday, we went to the Globe and saw Much Ado About Nothing. Josie Lawrence (Who's Line is it Anyway?) played Benedick and she was wonderful. We stood in the open air and watched her improv her way through a woman fainting in the audience. Much fun!

Anyways, I have to get back to work, but that's a little touristy update for you. And, no, I don't have an apartment so don't ask. *sigh*

grumble

I'm having a rotten day. First, I was a half hour late to my appointment at Citibank, but when I got there, they didn't have my appointment on the books anyways. So now I get to treck all the way out to Canary Warf again for a 9:00 on Monday. This requires transfering trains and is a little bit of a pain.

Then I got the message that the flat people all loved me, spent two hours discussing it, flipped a coin, and I lost. Sucks sucks sucks. Now I have to spend all night tonight starting all over because I'm supposed to move in 4 days and still don't have a place. Argh.

I'm having lunch with a friend, so maybe that'll help cheer me up. We'll see.

Happy Birthday, Vicki!

Happy day to you!

flat chase

oh I saw the perfect flat last night. It's huge: 5 stories, 2 bathrooms, and a garden! There are 5 other people (3 girls, 2 guys). It's 15-20 minutes walk from work and two blocks from one of the most jumpin' neighborhoods (tre East Village). I'm just dying to get it, but it's very hot property and I'm auditioning for the role of flatmate. I'm on the "shortlist" of 3 people they want to see again. Very frustrating and nerve-racking. I feel like I'm waiting to see which team will pick me in gym class. Who knows? Maybe I'll have good news tomorrow or the next day.

Lee gets in tonight. Yay!

Also, I don't know if I've mentioned this in the past, but there's a canteen in the office that serves food for lunch. Free=good; food=bad. Today they had a barbeque on the roof and it was the best damn lunch I've ever had here. Unfortunately, my colleagues also said it's the best damn lunch they've ever had here, and some of them have been eating here for over three years.
