first week back

well, it's Friday. I'm really sleepy, but I'll try to be coherent. On Monday, I had my first day back. I didn't work much because my computer needed setting up. I also got to have lunch with Howard and a few drinks with my friends Mike and Jessica. On Tuesday, I also didn't do much, but I had dinner with Melinda and gave her the belated bridal shower present. Wednesday, Suz arrived from London. Suddenly, I did have work to do. I had several meetings, lunch with Suz, and drinks to send off a colleague who's going to be spending the next six months in London. I also donated blood (GO!). Thursday, I had a nice lunch with some colleagues and dinner with Ryan. And now it's Friday. Tomorrow is Melinda's bachlorette party and Sunday I have to pack, but I'm def. looking forward to the weekend.

No, I'm not settled. Yes, I'm glad to be back. I'm very tired and don't have an opinion on anything (except that the first episode of Battlestar Galactica season 2 rocked). I'll tell you how the move goes and keep you posted. I should be settled in a week or so. Oh, and I changed the template a bit.

I'm back

Yup. I landed on Saturday. Went to Mel's bridal shower Sunday. And now I'm sitting at work waiting for them to set up my computer. I'll be changing the template of the blog in the next week or so (I want to put up the last of the London pics first). I'm not too tired, but I still don't know when to be hungry. Everybody keeps asking me if I'm glad to be back (yes, but I already miss my friends) and how London was (great). Seeing how I can't really do any work without a computer, I'll probably post more later, but I gots to go for now.

i vant your blood

well, I'm happy to report that I can still donate blood. I was worried about it because there are some restrictions on people who've spent time in the UK and Europe, but I still meet all the criteria. Now, most of you should know by now how strongly I feel about this, but I'm going to do this anyways: go donate blood. Seriously. Make an appointment, go to a blood drive, whatever. I know people like Mom, Sue and Melinda can't but what's the rest of your excuses? Donating blood is easy and doesn't take long at all. I won't lecture you on donating platelets (which I do), except to remind you that they're needed too and help cancer patients, esp. those undergoing chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant recipients and burn victims.

catch-up post 2

Two friends have celebrated birthdays recently: Adam and Melinda. Happy birthday, you guys.

Also, I've promised 4th of July story/pics. Here you go (keeping in mind I don't put pics up of people):

I flew in Thursday June 30, and to be honest, I don't remember what I did. How sad is that? I'm sure someone will remind me. Oh, wait, I met up with Lee. Yeah, 'cause he saw me before I cut my hair. I went and bough my new US cell phone, saw the new kasina offices, and went for a drink with Lee. *phew*

The next day was a chores day. Got my hair cut (4 hours) and tried to get my new NY ID (unsuccessfully) and had dinner and drinks with Ryan.

Saturday I meant to pack, but, well, I couldn't. I needed a break. I did go to Queens for my friend Eric's birthday. It was at a beer garden (or however you spell that) and great fun.

Sunday, Sue got in REALLY early. We got up and got in a cab to go have dim sum with Lee, Melinda, and Jerrod. Yum!

When we left, we bumped into the beginnings of Chinatown's fourth of July celebrations

Then Sue went to hang with Jerrod and I chilled at home reading and watching TV. I know I should have got up, but it was so nice just to relax.

Monday was the big day. Sue and I got up and headed out (a bit late) to get the subway to Yankees stadium
We got there and it was absolutely perfect. Just look at this:
and this
but it got even better. You've probably all heard by now, but Lee caught a home run ball (off Giambi). I have special permission to put up this picture of him and Mel with the ball:
How cool is that? Check it out: you can totally see where the bat hit the ball:
He even let me hold it for a minute. So cool. Just to make the day so perfect I could cry, the Yanks came back from behind to beat the Os and they brought in my man, the closer, Mariano Rivera:
Of course, that wasn't the end of the day. We all went bowling and then rushed to Paul's for my favorite burgers, and capped the night off with fireworks
It was a perfect fourth. Everything I wanted and hoped for.

The next day, I had lunch with some friends from work and saw the new apartment. Then Sue and I ran down to the movie theatre so I could see Land of the Dead. It was awesome. I've become a real fan of Romero's. Anyways, then it was back on a plane and home again.

Lee and Mel came to visit later that week, but as you all know, it was also that week that the first bombings occurred. It was also Sean's birthday (he had a great party). And while I'm mentioning it, Taryn and Ryan also had birthdays.

There was a big costume party at my house (sorry - no pics as per no people rule). I gave a presentation to some clients that was very successful. And then last week, I went back to New Jersey on a work trip. I didn't have time to see anybody, but the trip was still ok.

It's a bit stressful right now trying to get everything ready before I leave, but I think you're all up to speed now. I'll try to keep you updated as things happen, but please forgive me if I don't usually have much time to come here. Hope you are all well!

addendum

oh thank goodness. I'm now to 95% of knowing where I'm living. I just got the phone call confirming that the guy who owns my new place isn't selling it and will rent it to me. Now I just need to scrape up the cash, sign the lease, get the keys, hire a moving company, pack up all my suff and move in the next three weeks. No sweat.

da plan

so, apparently I haven't actually told you all the plan. Here it is:
- August 9-August 18: work my butt off and prep in London
- Friday, August 19: I turn 28 and say goodbye to all my UK friends. If you haven't got the evite and would like me to send it to you, let me know.
- Saturday, August 20: wake up, go to the airport, land 6:45 JFK, come into the city, dump my bags, out to dinner (Bday part two) with Lee and his parents.
- Monday, August 22: first day back in the NY office.

No, I don't know where I'm living after the 31st. When I know, you'll know. Yes, I'm totally swamped, and thus MIA. Nothing short of a phone call will get my attention for the next few weeks, but at least my mobile is working now.

Love you all!
